Status Adjustment Requirements
In order to obtain a status adjustment to become eligible for a green card, it must generally be demonstrated that the individual seeking permanent residency qualifies based on one of the following situations:
• A close family member is a US citizen;
• You are seeking Humanitarian Asylum;
• You are seeking residency based upon Entrepreneurial Investment in the US;
• You entered the US lawfully and have not overstayed a visa;
• You have permanent employment in the US.
If you are seeking a green card based upon familial relationship or work, a petition must be filed on your behalf with the Department of Homeland Security.
